About Us.
Climb. Connect. Create.
OUR MISSION
"To unite climbing, creativity and wellbeing in one community — empowering people to move, connect and create."
From a Warehouse to a Hub.
The idea behind Yonder was simple from the start, and it hasn't really changed. Try to blur the lines between work and play, and build a community around it.
Yonder started life in 2016 as a Kickstarter project: London's first climbing, yoga and workspace. A group of climbers, makers and coworkers backed an idea, a warehouse in Walthamstow, and a plan to build a hub of creativity and physical activity for everyone.
"Between a rock and a workspace." — Our original tagline. Still a pretty good description.
The instinct at the start was simple, movement, making and work all seem to work better for us when they're in the same building. Nearly a decade on we are continually growing and changing but still working from that instinct.
What we're trying to maintain is what made it feel like Yonder in the first place — staying independent, rooted in E17, and shaped by the people who spend time here.
The Goal.
Integration:
We try to weave climbing, co-working and wellness together, rather than run them as separate businesses under one roof.
Community:
Inclusive, supportive, and rooted in East London. We try to learn names and remember faces, real people, real connection, real impact.
Creativity:
We try to be a place that encourages people to move, make and express themselves ,on the wall and off it.
Wellbeing:
We care about balance across body, mind and work. The whole person, not just the climber.
Inclusivity:
We want Yonder to feel welcoming to anyone, whatever their background or ability. It shapes how we think about our programmes, our pricing, and how we talk to people.
How we’re building
the community.
Affordable quality:
Somewhere worth coming back to. That means trying to get the facility right, making the welcome feel genuine, and building a membership that feels worth its price.
Our offering:
Always trying to improve. We keep investing in our space, our coaching, our workspace, events and our courses. We're always trying to make everything around it work better.
Brand:
Trying to be clear & honest. We're working on how Yonder is expressed through our spaces, our communications, and the partners we choose to work with. We'd rather it felt authentic than polished.
Access:
Climbing for more people. Our Access to Climbing work aims to lower the financial, physical and social barriers to the sport. We'd like it to be a permanent part of what Yonder is, rather than an add-on.
Under one roof, with our neighbours.
